This villetta is perfect if you are looking to stay near a village with views of the countryside. There are olive groves that surround the property making it easy to go for a small walk nearby. The accommodations are typical and comfortable. The owner was very accommodating providing help when we needed it. The gardens are beautiful and the view from the property of the iconic church is unmatched. The sunrise and sunset from the villa are fabulous. The property is so close to Cortona that you can really feel a part of the community staying here with easy access to the village. Grocery stores are easily accessible as well down below the property in nearby Camucia. The villa was perfect for 4 people but could easily handle another 2 with one person sleeping on the couch. The single bedroom is much smaller than anticipated, but has a small sitting room near it that helps with space. The road in and out of the property is quite narrow and oncoming traffic can be hard to see. There are mirrors for exit, but you need to listen for traffic and it helps to have another person for another set of eyes. The stone walls on the side of the road to access the property are narrow and close as mentioned. Anything larger than a mid-size car would be too big. Overall, we had a fabulous stay here at Villa Calinaio. The views, classic old world rustic charm, and the gardens with pool make this a fantastic choice for a small group staying near Cortona.

Great location in Tuscany! tight roads in and out of the property, must it has the most spectacular views around. 3 min. drive to Cortona. The villa is spacious and very accomodating. Just be sure to ask how to use the dishwasher and washing machine.

The property is everything we hoped it would be. Quiet, well located and authentic. We would book it again. it is a little hard to find so look for the road when you are adjacent to St. Michaels church. Also the road is rough and could use some fixing. Be careful and drive slow. Owner extremely helpful.

Villa Calcinaio was a beautiful place to spend our time while in Cortona. My goal was to get a slice of Tuscan life and this house gave me the opportunity to do just that. It was rustic but charming and updated ~20 years ago. Enrico was very responsive and even came to our rescue when we had trouble locating the house on the dark and rainy night when we arrived. I found the house stocked with all the basics and then some and I fell in love with the view of the beautiful dome from every window. My only word of caution is that the small road to the house is very steep, unpaved, and has poor visibility from both entrances to the main road. It was doable in a compact car, but I felt better having a co-pilot to help me check for oncoming cars when exiting. Again, something that Italians may be used to, but not so much for many others. Also, if being able to walk to town is what's drawing you to this space as it was for me, while it can be done, you are walking on very curvy and narrow roads, and even for someone in good shape, it is a heck of a steep incline. We chose to take the very short drive to the public parking lot up the hill and save our energy for the walks in Cortona.

We had a lovely stay at Villa Calcinaio - thank you Enrico and Marisa. The house is exactly as it looks in the photographs. A short (steep) walk to Cortona and a great location for visiting other hill towns. It was the perfect size for our group of 5.

Beautiful home in a stunning location. The views are amazing and the surrounding area is easy to drive around and explore. Location is central to Tuscany so lots to do in the area. Host was friendly, accommodating, and responsive. We would definitely stay there again.

Very dated and basic.

Overall we enjoyed our stay. The villa was charming and a nice break in the Tuscan hills after visiting numerous Italian cities. We did encounter a few issues like intermittent wifi and television reception, stinkbugs and dust . Dust and bugs are probably to be expected in an old farmhouse where there aren’t screens everywhere and the weather is pleasant and it’s nice to have the windows open. Enrico was prompt in addressing the lack of wifi and tv reception…. and it did function for one night of our stay which was fine since we weren’t there to watch tv or work. The villa was a short drive up to the super quaint town of Cortona…. Or a vigorous 20 minute walk (which we very much enjoyed). Great restaurants, view and cute shops.

We enjoyed a lovely 7 night stay at this property. We had everything we needed and the house was comfortable and clean. Our toaster didn't work and Enrico was very responsive and brought a new one out within 24 hours. The views and the location are fabulous and we enjoyed the outdoor space daily. A word of caution, this property is not meant to be walkable into town. We were not able to pick up our rental car until Monday when the agency opened, so we were without a car and had to walk into town which took about 25 minutes. There is no path so we walked on the road which had no shoulder and there is a lot of traffic and curves. We learned that taxi drivers will come to the lower entrance via directions on google maps and they will not drive in the drive way because of the narrowness of it so we walked up the hill with our luggage. We did it but not everyone may be able to. We directed the next taxi driver to come in to the other entrance which is not considered a road so it is not on google maps. It is right on the curve so it's dicey but it's a better option. Ask Enrico if you book this place, about this option. I wish that in the bedroom with twin beds that there is an option for queen sheets and covers when we push the beds together as was recommended that we could do. Actually, in a super host VRBO, I wish that the owner would have that ready for us. Having the twin sheets was uncomfortable with the beds pushed together and hard to make up in the morning. Their is one bathroom that has a hanging hand held shower with no shower curtain which was not an enjoyable experience for the person in that room but the tub could be used to wash hair as well so they made due. Maybe you could add a shower curtain to that shower without too much difficulty? I would definitely recommend this property though and we really did enjoy it. Thank you Enrico for your hospitality!

After 20 years the house retains its original structure and charm. The new renovations are wonderful. We always enjoy the sites and surrounds of the old buildings and church. Nothing could’ve been better. Best wishes to the Testini family. Thank you the three brothers.

Casa molto bella e caratteristica!

Just on the slope nestled between Cortona city and the Calcinaio church, the location was perfect for us. We enjoyed the serenity of no one immediately around us while only being a very short drive from the city walls. (Admittedly, we could have walked, but driving was easier!) Taking day trips to various Tuscan cities and sights was wonderfully served by the central location.

After two years of cancelation due to Covid, we finally could go to the Possarelli villa.
Unfortunately my friend fell over the doorstep and broke her shoulder. She was taken by ambulance to hospital in Arezzo and had an operation. So the last week was not so pleasant

E' stata una bellissima vacanza. La casa è accogliente e ha tutto il necessario. L'abbiamo trovata pulita e in ordine e Enrico è stato un ottimo padrone di casa.

Comfortable house with Garden and views
Great location for exploring Tuscany and Umbria. Comfortable beds and spacious rooms. Enrico was very helpful and welcoming. We enjoyed some lovely quiet days in our garden enjoying the view. Coffee machine a plus and I should imagine the pool would be great in summer. Cortona a few minutes away by car and supermarket is nearby in Camucia. We caught the train from Camucia to Florence and Rome for day trips.

Eine sehr schöne Villa, gut gelegen um viele schöne Städte zu besichtigen. Cortona ist von der Villa aus in 5min zu erreichen wo man köstlich essen gehen kann. Der Vermieter oder Verwalter Herr Enrico ist ein ausgesprochen freundlicher und hilfsbereiter Mensch. Nochmals vielen Dank für 14 Tage atemberaubenden Urlaub.

Es war ein richtig schöner Urlaub mit wunderschöner Aussicht und sehr gemütlicher Einrichtung. Ein Ort an den wir uns gerne erinnern und mit Sicherheit zurückkommen werden!

The villa was located perfectly for us! It was very comfortable and had everything we needed. Enrico was very accommodating when we had questions, responding quickly! I would recommend this property and would stay there again! We were there 3 weeks and the time flew by! The only thing I would say, is notice the mirror across the street coming out of the drive way and use it!

Charming home and lovely gardens with a convenient location. Would highly recommend this home. A little piece of paradise.

We called Villa Calcinaio our "little farm house." The house is hidden just above the Santa Maria delle Grazie ala Calcinaio Church which in itself is beautiful to view specially at night when it is lit up. Enric was a charming host and easy to reach by phone or text. It is possible to talk to Cortona from the house, but there are so many other villages to visit that I strongly suggest a car. The living room is small, barely large enough for four adults. I would not suggest this home for 3 adult couples. It would be a great rental for children as there is a large stone fenced yard with a small square pool.
